Newport Beach Restaurant Week

Celebrating its 15th year, this event will feature over 150 participating restaurants .

1. Billy’s at the Beach

This waterfront restaurant offers stunning views of the ocean and a menu that features fresh seafood and classic American dishes. Don’t miss their famous Mai Tai cocktail!

Why we picked it:

This iconic restaurant has been a staple in the community for decades, attracting everyone from hungry mariners to Hollywood A-listers. But what really sets Billy’s apart is its laid-back atmosphere and delicious food. Whether you’re in the mood for fresh seafood or a juicy steak, their diverse menu has something for everyone. And don’t forget to try their world-famous cheese toast and ice-cold mai tais – they’re local favorites for a reason.

Their Polynesian-themed bar is amazing to visit at sunset and features some awesome paintings of Tiki gods and topless maidens. As you kick back with your favorite drink at sunset, you’ll feel transported to a far-off island paradise. The atmosphere alone at Billy’s is like a warm embrace for your soul, melting away any worries or stress from your day.  Their food is awesome too!

2. Gulfstream

Known for their upscale atmosphere and delicious seafood, Gulfstream is a great choice for a special occasion or romantic dinner. Try their signature dish, the Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon.

Why we picked it:

While Gulfstream may be a more upscale dining spot, it’s the most unpretentious and unassuming place in town from the friendly staff to the after work crowd. They have a great happy hour which attracts finance gods, law partners, powerbrokers and CEOs. Who will often slide into the bar around 5pm for a drink and a quick bite before heading home.

The magic of this place is that sometimes those quick snacks and cocktails can quickly turn into hours long conversations on random topics and making new friends. All while sipping cocktails by their iconic patio and  wood-burning fire pits.

3. Cappy’s Cafe

A local favorite, Cappy’s Cafe serves up hearty breakfast and lunch fare with a California twist. Their avocado toast and homemade granola are not to be missed.

Why we picked it:

Cappy’s is a Newport legend. It’s been around since…well…forever. It was even famous one time when Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra ate there after a long night of partying in LA and the OC.  The owners are a nice Greek family and they treat you like family.

Cappy’s is like walking into your local diner anytime of day where you can get a great cup of coffee or a screwdriver at 9 AM. They serve up some great BLT’s, golden buttery hotcakes, and burgers. And if you need a screwdriver, they have a bar and it’ll likely be open with welcome arms.

4. Muldoon’s Irish Pub

For a cozy pub experience with delicious Irish-inspired cuisine, head to Muldoon’s. Their shepherd’s pie and fish & chips are crowd pleasers.

Why we picked it:

We go here every time we’re in the OC (aka: Orange County) especially on St. Patrick’s Day (we know cliche) but it’s an Irish bar owned by locals and they’ve been around Newport forever. Their food is great, beers are cold, Guinness is on tap and music is always good.

5. RED O “Taste of Mexico”

If you’re in the mood for Mexican food with a modern twist, RED O is the place to go. Their ceviche and carne asada are particularly popular.

Why we picked it:

With its resort style atmosphere and breathtaking interiors, you don’t want to miss this place. And since it’s restaurant week why not make it a date night? The food is delicious, the scenery amazing and if it’s date night- you’ll probably get laid, so don’t go too spicy on the guacamole you VICESNOB.

6. True Food Kitchen

For healthy yet flavorful options, True Food Kitchen has got you covered. Their menu is full of plant-based dishes that don’t skimp on taste.

Why we picked it:

True Food opened years ago in Newport Beach during the restaurants early expansion. It has lasted the test of time, and certainly doesn’t disappoint. They base the menu on anti-inflammatory type foods and the food is filling and tasty. For restaurant week it’s a great chance to dive into something super healthy, so why not give them a try?

7. Woody’s Wharf

With its prime location on Newport Harbor, Woody’s Wharf offers stunning views along with fresh seafood and classic American fare.

Why we picked it:

We love Woody’s for its long standing tenure on the harbor. This is a local hangout where the uniform of the day is Hawaiian shirts, shorts, sandals and flip-flops. You can grab an ice cold beer, a burger or one of the chef’s fresh fish selections. Whatever it is that you’re after, you’ll find it here.  Pull up on any Saturday or Sunday afternoon and you’ll find a slew of locals hanging out on the dock-side bar or boat having a good time and soaking in the SoCal Sun.

8. The Beachcomber Cafe

Located right on Crystal Cove State Beach, The Beachcomber Cafe is the perfect spot for a beachside meal with friends or family. Try their famous Bloody Mary or lobster roll.

Why we picked it:

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience of dining on the sand of the famous Crystal Cove State Beach (check out the movie Beaches with Bette Middler) you’ve found your spot. Delicious food and amazing drinks, all with the sand beneath your toes. If you’re there at sunset, they raise the martini flag in a ceremony fit for a drink (a martini) but any drink will do. What better way to end the day and start your evening. This is a great pick for restaurant week and gives foodies a chance to experience the Newport Coast in prohibition era style.
